For many teenagers, Spring Break is a time to relax and spend some time with friends, maybe on the beach or on a trip. While this might be true for the majority, a small group of FCD-ETX '04 Premier players were starting their Spring Break off with a grueling and highly competitive tournament in the Dallas Metro-plex area.
The North Texas State Soccer Association annual Presidents Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in the state. Over the course of a weekend, teams battled for a chance to be crowned NTSSA Presidents Cup State Champions, and a chance to represent NTSSA in the Region III Presidents winners Regional Tournament. This is a true benchmark for teams, as they get to play against some of the best competition from across the state.
Our FCD-ETX 04 Boys Premier, led by coach Casey Osbourne, captured the clubs 1st Presidents Cup state championship in a dramatic fashion; winning them a berth to the regional tournament! Scoring 16 goals and only conceding 5 throughout the entire weekend, our 04 Premier boys will now start preparing to represent NTSSA in the regional tournament.
The overwhelming star of the tournament was Aram “Luigi” Mijares who plays as the team's goalkeeper. During the tournament, Luigi was called upon on numerous occasions and stood firm keeping the opponents at bay. Also very impressive was his 3 penalty-kick stops throughout the tournament. The freshman from Chapel Hill says that to be able to win the Presidents Cup was “…something really amazing that I was glad I was able to do with my teammates.”
A huge congratulations to the 04 Boys Premier FCD-ETX team on their Presidents Cup victory!
