FC DALLAS EAST TEXAS

Most of the FC Dallas youth teams were busy competing in international tournaments locally in late March, but some of the club's youngest players took their talents abroad.

Players from across three different  U-10 teams were selected to travel to Spain to competed in the Iscar Cup LaLiga Promises - the only North American club to compete.

"It was a fantastic experience for the kids," Vice President of FC Dallas Youth Chris Hayden said. "We get to take older players overseas all the time, and to get the chance to take a group of players this age is really fantastic because everything we were experiencing was very new for them."

The FCD team competed against the likes of Real Madrid, UD Las Palmas and CD Iscar in three group stage matches - finishing third in the group with two draws an a loss.

"The first time we played in a 7-v-7 format in an actual game was against Real Madrid on live TV and we ended up drawing that game [1-1]," Hayden said. "It was just a great experience for those players and what we hope is that the experience that they had will allow them to come back here and really draw from that to continue to improve and someday play in our Academy."

Preparations are already underway for FCD to field a U-10 team in the tournament again next year, a team that Hayden says will be much more prepared for the stout competition. In the meantime, enjoy this amazing goal scored in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.
